Dambulla's cave temples have been a place of worship for over two thousand years, five chambers carved into a granite outcrop, filled with more than 150 Buddha statues beneath ceilings painted edge to edge.
It pairs naturally with Sigiriya next door, and the town is the gateway to the whole Cultural Triangle.
